  2. discontinuous and non-visual, and thus demands 
  3. participation. This discontinuous quality has been 
  4. very much played up in such movies as The  
  5. Seventh Seal  and Blow Up , to name only two in a 
  6. rapidly developing m√©tier. A movie is a succession 
  7. of discrete images which are separated by 
  8. extremely small spans of time. Because of their 
  9. rapid succession, the images are fused in the 
  10. conscious mind and appear connected. Our 
  11. relatively recent insights into the power of the 
  12. preconscious in both the creation and 
  13. apprehension of works of art indicate the 
  14. subliminal is in fact a strong force in psychic
